Sidbury CC Winter Update
Sidbury Cricket Club Winter Update Ahead Of 2026 Season
As winter settles in and preparations quietly continue behind the scenes, it’s a great time to reflect on the progress made at Sidbury Cricket Club and to look ahead with excitement to the upcoming summer season.
Over the winter, the club has seen an important change in leadership. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Chester as our new club captain. Ed steps into the role with enthusiasm and ambition as we prepare for the challenges of the new season. At the same time, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Alex Paget, who has stepped down as captain after years of outstanding service. Alex’s commitment, leadership and hard work have played a huge part in helping the club reach where it is today, and quite simply, we could not have done it without him. His impact on Sidbury Cricket Club will be felt for many years to come.
Our junior section continues to go from strength to strength, supported by a successful All Stars development programme that introduces young players to the game. Friday night training sessions have been especially encouraging with consistently large turnouts highlighting the growing enthusiasm for cricket within the club. The future of Sidbury cricket is certainly bright. Due to growing demand the under 10s have split into an u9s and u11s softball team. And we’re also welcoming new hardball Under 12s and Under 13s teams in the 2026 season, alongside a new Under 13s girls’ softball team.
Adding to this positivity, several of our league side players have been appointed as head coaches of junior teams for the coming season. The club will put a few players through ECB Coaching courses in the interest of welcoming structured training and fun sessions. This strong link between senior and junior cricket not only strengthens development across the club but also sets a fantastic example for our younger players. With this structure in place, we are confident it will be a successful year of cricket both on and off the field.
Looking ahead to the summer, Sidbury CC are aiming to be competitive and successful in the league this year, with the added bonus of midweek friendlies providing extra opportunities for development and match practice.
Finally, a huge thank you must go to our ground staff, who have been working tirelessly throughout the winter months. Their dedication to maintaining and preparing the ground ensures it will be in top condition and ready for the season ahead.
With strong leadership, a thriving junior section, and a club full of ambition, Sidbury Cricket Club heads into the new season full of optimism. Roll on summer.
